XC with Tee Multi slide update Finally done! Alpines cross country course is out! I’m super happy about the jumps and the diversity in strides in some places, but not so happy with the trees. Any ways would any one be interested in coming to visit the course? Or should I do a XC/Eventing show soon? For the first horse I decided to bring on the course, I chose Tee or SA The Party Pony! He’s a 6 year old selle francais stallion, that’s going into eventing. He’s already a qualified show jumper, but hasn’t had all that experience in XC. I wanted to see how he’d do! (Also he’s my only horse with good poses for this :p) His first jump was pretty nicely gone over, though you could say his back hooves were lagging. After moving him forward a little I found his back legs nicely keeping up. With a little help he went over the next jump perfectly. The next one he spooked a little at. I think he was concerned about the width of the jump. Which resulted in him over jumping slightly. When we approach the water jumps I felt something click in his mind. He went forward, without as much riding from my part. He went into the water with no problems, thing is he flicked his tail up and splashed me fully, let’s just say it was cold! He easily jumped the jump that was in the water, I was worrying it would be pretty wide, but he easily jumped it. After a quick buck in the water, which sent ripples all the way through the trench. He jumped out and gave another buck that sent me a little off the saddle. I quickly slide back and continued without breaking stride. We then went over the next one without any problems. And went towards an arrowhead. This one sometimes gave me the hibby gibbies so I gathered him and made sure he had a correct stride, and he flew over it! The next jump he had no difficulty with, and just hoped over. And the oxer was the same, though he came a little to close for my comfort. After that series a slowed him to a trot to let him have a small breather. His endurance isn’t what it should be yet, and I didn’t want to strain him. The galloping stretch ended in a small brook that we had been lining for a while. I took up a canter wanting him to canter through it, but once we were a stride away I knew what he was going to do. He had his head up and looking at the jump, his strides perfect. I decided to let him go over it because of his nice approach. Next time I’ll work on keeping his head down and relaxed when approaching this one. The course ended with a keyhole, I hoped he understood what to do in this one and did not spook. I brought him in slower and steady keeping my position relaxed, but ready to act at any time. Hotter than looking down over it he went over perfectly! Tee did an amazing course today and I couldn’t be happier! He seemed to enjoy himself and stay focused minded, only with a few bucks here and there. And autumn is slowly coming in to Alpines, with a few greener spots than others, which made going over the course more enjoyable, I find! Super happy with my little party boy!
