Welcome to the table! In bridge, before you play any cards, you and your partner must "bid" on how many tricks you think you can win. This project focuses on that decision making ability. (Here, just bidding phases are played) • Step 1: Look at Your Points The 13 cards in your hand add up to an amount of points. • Ace = 4 points • King = 3 points • Queen = 2 points • Jack = 1 point • (All other cards are worth 0 points!) You can see this in the High Card Points (HCP) variable. • Step 2: Use Good Strategy Based on your total points, you will make one of three choices: • Pass: If you have 0 to 11 points. Your hand is too weak to start. • Bid 1 of a Suit: If you have 12 to 21 points. Pick your longest suit (the one you have most cards in). • Bid 1 No Trump (1NT): If you have a balanced hand with higher points (meaning your cards are split evenly across all suits, like 4-4-3-2). • The Goal: Beat the countdown clock! Calculate your points as fast as you can, make the correct bid, and build a high-score streak.
Notes • Made with "The Cardturner" in mind, by Louis Sachar, in which the protagonist, Alton, is required to make smart choices to win his bridge competitions. • Confused on the rules?
