Profile Normally, he has a cheerful personality and likes to tell jokes. In reality, he uses those jokes to mask a mind that has shattered from despair. -------------------------------------------------- ~Story~ In a certain AU (one almost identical to the original *Undertale*), Sans was still working as a researcher. One day, the monsters around him and the world itself suddenly began to vanish... Sans rushed out of the lab and headed to Snowdin. There, too, the residents were disappearing one by one... Papyrus, himself on the verge of fading away, came toward Sans, calling out for help—and then... Papyrus vanished, and the world disappeared completely. For some reason, however, Sans did not fade away. He pondered this mystery deeply. He resolved to destroy other worlds—including those from other games—to gather data and somehow restore his own lost world. In one particular AU, Gaster told him, "Doing such things won't fix the world you came from." Driven to despair by these words, Sans lost his sanity. At some point, he found himself inside the program of the world that should have been destroyed; there, he discovered the **"‽Virus‽"** that had caused the world's collapse. Unable to save Papyrus or the other monsters, and seeking some form of atonement, Sans fused with that **"‽Virus‽"** and became a destroyer of AUs.
