TW: STATIC IN PROJECT, AND BLOOD MENTIONED IN WRITING --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CREDITS: Art: @GraceCat23(the art is just a quick sketch/doodle, oh yeah and the text says, "REMEMBER THAT DAY?" if you can't read it) Writing: @GraceCat23 Inspirations: Two Time from Forsaken, and also Röki!! :D The prompt/idea required for the story is that it is the main character's birthday, but when they open their eyes, everything seems to be strange. The main character has been sent to an unknown world! (gasp oh no) So you are meant to describe what they see, hear, smell, taste and feel in this strange world. Also towards the end is where I went on my own path, because I already did the senses near the start/middle. So yeah that was just a heads up for things on this project :P --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Happy birthday, Laurel!” My parents exclaim, popping from behind the wall holding a birthday cake. I laugh, not-so-surprised, but embarrassed by this. “Oh gee, thanks Mom and Dad! I never thought I'd see a cake on my birthday!” I say, sitting down into the comfy chair as they brought the cake in front of me on the wooden table. Watching the candle light up from the lighter as the fire tickles me with warmth, I smile at my parents, adjusting myself in my seat. My parents back away from the cake and begin to sing Happy Birthday. “...Happy Birthday to you!!” They stop singing and clapping. Looking at me, they gesture to me. “Go on, blow the candles and make a wish!” My mom says, nodding at the candles. I close my eyes, thinking of a wish. Once I have an idea, I blow. But when I do, there’s silence. 'Silence?' I think, confused. I open my eyes and I’m still in my seat at the table but strangely enough, it’s as if a pause button was clicked at a different time period. My mom is in the kitchen washing dishes, but she’s not moving at all, and everything around the house has a weird purple-blue shine over it. I start to hear a faint humming sound, so I open my mouth to speak. “Hello?” I say, getting up and taking a step away from the table. My voice echoes around the room as I walk cautiously to the door, feeling the wooden wall as it gleams with the purple aura. The wall feels the same, with its smooth but bumpy texture, but it has these strange cracks along the surface. “Hmm.” I mutter, heading to the door again. But once I face the door, I start to smell an interesting scent. 'Flowers,' I think, taking hold of the startlingly cold doorknob. 'But not any type of flower, it’s mountain laurel,' I realize, recognizing the sweet scent. Before I could process it, I had already opened the door, and I was staring out at hills of mountain laurel flowers resting on the grass as far as the eye can see. Immediately, I begin to choke, trying to breathe as I open my mouth to get air, to scream, to do anything. But all I get out of the toxic air is the sickly taste of poison in my mouth. Suddenly, a booming voice echoes loudly in my ears, “REMEMBER THAT DAY, LAUREL?” Images flash in my mind. A deathly cold body in the flowers. My shaking hand covered in purple-blue blood. “STOP-!” I manage, looking up to the dark sky. The voice doesn’t speak again. I clutch my head as I cough, gasping for air. 'Not that day..' I think, my eyes darting around frantically. I spot the door still behind me, so before I think the voice will speak again, I quickly sprint in, slamming the door behind me. At once, I get clean air through my mouth, breathing deeply. Relieved, I relax, though still deeply shaken. I slide down against the door, pushing my legs close to me as I begin to feel tears fall off my face. I realize my tears are purple colored, sending a chill down my body and a flashback to that day. I close my eyes to shut off my roaring thoughts and the strange sight of the purple-blue tears. “THIS WAS YOUR FAULT. YOU WERE THE ONE WHO KILLED HER.” The voice shouts, echoing in the house. But the voice slowly quiets down. I open my eyes to see that I'm standing near the kitchen wall, with no more humming sounds, no more intoxicating smells. “Happy Birthday, Laurel!” My parents exclaim, popping from behind the wall holding a birthday cake. With all my might, I manage to smile and I force a laugh. “Oh gee, thanks Mom and Dad!" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, the ending was a bit rushed, I was kind of already done with it lmao Also my writing skills are buns so I'm sorry if the story looks kinda bad ;w; ooof I feel like i'm going to hate this later O_O oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
