Hello everyone... I'm sorry for scaring everyone if I did, but let me explain. Scratch has been a huge mark in my life. I've been here for like.. maybe 5 years? But these years have been awesome. Because of my dad, which is who introduced me to this website, I started seeing coding as my passion. It's been so much fun making projects, sharing them with a bunch of people, and making friends here too! Scratch was such a fun place to me, until, this year... Don't get me wrong, y'all are great friends, and I enjoy coding, animating, and making art, but I realized something. After I shared my timer project, I started procrastinating a lot, getting distracted, and kept scrapping ideas over and over again. I thought I just needed a break, so I took multiple. However, I would still lose my interest in making projects. Now I don't even get excited into making projects anymore, it basically just feels like I'm forced to do so, like doing homework or something. I was thinking of actually quitting weeks ago, but I was always like, "No no you can't just leave! Don't stop doing what you love!!", and I hated that about myself. I hated the fact that I didn't want to change or leave my comfort zone. I lost my motivation in animating, so I just made games, and I lost motivation in that too. I realized it was finally time to stop focusing on block coding and learn about text-based code. Scratch's blocks are fun and easy to manage, but they're not the real world. In the real world when you code, you obviously don't use blocks to program. I want to advance in code, I want to improve on something I love. I've been thinking, and it's time I move on from Scratch into bigger and better things. Where will I go now? I've found another website that can help me better learn on python and html. What is this website called? It's called Edublocks.org. Now I know what you're thinking, "Jacob.. doesn't this have block coding too?" Yes and no. So basically instead of only coding with blocks, they can help me understand the basics of coding with words. Every block has a command you would use for python and stuff, so it can better help me learn about all the correct lines of code that needs to be added. When I'm ready, I can only switch to text-based code. I think this is way better than coding on Scratch. It's fun and helps me learn step by step instead of right away. I kind of wished I found out about this a long time ago. I did make an account there, but unfortunately they're meant to be private, sooo you guys can't see it. I'm sorry. I can share projects on that site and maybe send you guys links (You don't need to sign in), but Idk if that's a good idea for me and you guys too. Let me know what you think. Now am I fully leaving Scratch? I'm going to stop posting animations and games here, but I'll still post art! I still love to draw, and I may get requests, so I'll stay here for that! Maybe I'll even feel like posting a small project once in a while. I'll also stay to chat with you guys, since y'all are my friends, and I don't want to leave that. <3 I'm just going to be less active on Scratch, that's all. So yeah that's all. I just wanted to thank you guys for being such wonderful people in my life. You guys have made me laugh, smile, and felt like I belong. I also want to thank my dad for getting me here. Honestly, if it wasn't for him, I don't know where I would be. Just another reminder, I'm not fully quitting, I'll stay here once in a while to share small projects and chat with you guys!! I'm so grateful to be apart of your guys' lives, and I hope the best for all of you! God blesses and loves you so much! Take care! Jacob... out.
