OKAY explanation one: SYSTEM SETTINGS The (current: (month/year/day/minute, etc.)) block uses your device's system settings. As long as your system settings are correct, it should give you an accurate number of days until October 31st. This countdown is based on your local time zone. For example, if I lived in an area with the PDT time zone (Pacific Daylight Time), this countdown would be different than if I lived in an area with the JST time zone (Japan Standard Time). Explanation two: UTC Countdown (most complicated)☠️ Unfortunately, I was not smart enough to be able to create the block of math code inside the project for the UTC Countdown variable so I asked AI to do it. I’m sorry (I understand the equation and I could probably solve it. The problem is I probably wouldn’t have ever been able to come up with it on my own.) The UTC Countdown utilizes a block in scratch known as (Day Since 2000). The (Day Since 2000) block allows for UTC time calculations, AKA more universally accurate countdowns. This is because it uses UTC, which means Coordinated Universal Time (a universally accurate time zone). If you do want to make a UTC countdown using the (Day Since 2000) block, you’d have to include other values so the block can actually calculate the specific time you are counting down to. This makes sense (unless it doesn’t and nothing I said made sense to you because i suck at explaining), but the (Day Since 2000) block LITERALLY IS THE VALUE OF THE DAY SINCE 2000 SPECIFICALLY, meaning not ONLY does it include decimals, but you’d have to subtract every single leap year, year and month in days. If you want to be REALLY specific with your UTC time, you’d have to subtract hours, days, minutes, and seconds IN DECIMALS. This is EXTREMELY complicated because it creates a massive, bulky, complicated line of code that can be hard to fix if a mistake is made. Adding additional values for hours, days minutes, etc, makes this ALREADY COMPLICATED AND BULKY BLOCK even MORE COMPLICATED AND BULKY, which is why I wouldn’t recommend using the (Day Since 2000) block for a simple countdown unless you're making a countdown accurate for everyone. my epic conclusion: You could just subtract the specific days until october 31st of whatever year you're in for the UTC and the System Settings countdown but it wouldn’t always update , which is what this WHOLE project was about…Anyways, if you did or didn’t understand my explanations follow @sigyer aka me because I’m awesome.
count down to halloween but better than ceebee's (it's unique but hard to read I'm sorry ceebee) If you'd like to use this really bad countdown idc go for it lol also i some how messed up utc i hate my life
