-Born From The Stars- chapter 6 .Chapter 6 “I came from Riverclan near the lake.” “Really! So you're one of those forest cats?” “Uh, yeah.” She was taken back by the genuine interest in his voice. “Cool! I always wanted to see what it's like out there.” Oliver exclaimed. “I guess I could tell you what it's like?” “Ooo, could you?” They sat there talking, for what seemed like ages. About the clans, their annoying siblings/adopted siblings, how everyone tells them what to do, what it's like growing up, the hard times, and both the fun ones. “Wow, Riverclan sounds great!” Oliver meowed. “Yeah.” Minnowkit responded. “One more question, why did you leave?” She got sent back into all the memories of Emberlilly, Vixenkit, Grasskit, and… Shallowkit. He pretended to care. He only helped her for his own benefit. He was a fake friend. “I just didn't really feel welcome anymore.” She explained. There was a lot more than that, but some old loner didn't need to know. “Like it wasn't the right place for me.” “Thats not true, Minnowkit.” Oliver stated. “Huh?” Minnowkit was confused. “You miss Riverclan. I know from the way you talk about the river and what it feels not to have a care in the world.” He claimed. “Even if it might not have a place for you, you will always have a place in it.” “I-… I never thought about it like that.” She realized. Oliver was right. She couldn't just leave the place she grew up in. She wanted to become the best warrior in the clan! And if Riverclan was in trouble and really did need her like the dream cat said… “I have to go back.” “Huh? Really?” Oliver sounded surprised. “Don't you want me to go?” “Sorry I just wasn't expecting that.” He explained. “I'm glad I met you, thanks for letting me stay.” She walked out of the den and started running. “Wha- do you know where yer going!?” “I know!” Minnowkit kept running down the hill, swerving past trees toward the open water. She followed the river down, to what she hoped would be Riverclan territory. Even if the Clans didn't quite accept her, she was willing to give them a second chance. She used her nose to try to pick up her old trail, or at least a warrior sent. Minnowkit then scented a Riverclan cat. It seemed familiar, then she realized, “Shallowkit!” This was perfect! His scent would lead her back to the secret exit, where she could go back in without running into any warriors. Once she found the outside wall of the camp, she had to look around before she spotted the secret entrance. It was well hidden, and Minnowkit quickly slid through it. She arrived on the other side and felt a sigh of relief. No one saw her come in, and she doubted anyone besides Shallowkit knew she had left camp. She quietly padded back to the front of the nursery. The camp was pretty quiet, but Minnowkit could hear the other kits playing inside. She decided not to confront them for reasons, and padded over to the other side of the camp. She didn't make it far though, before running into Emberlilly. “Minnowkit! I wondered where you were, this is great timing!” She exclaimed. But Minnowkit could tell when she was about to get her wrapped up in something she didn't want to do. “Um, I'm tired, could we talk later?” She excused, trying to make her way around the medicine cat. “Nonsense, we can talk now. Anyways, I just finished talking to Stonestar about your apprenticeship,” Mouse dung! Emberlilly continued, “And he said that you could become my apprentice early! He just wants you to okay it, before we set everything into place.” “WHAT!?” Minnowkit couldn't believe it. After everything, couldn't Emberlilly listen for once? “Why didn’t you even ask me if I wanted to BE a medicine cat first?” “But. You do, right?” She sounded surprised. “No! I never did! I hate how you just ‘assume’ things without caring to think about others.” “Minnowkit, don't you talk to me that way.” Emberlilly said sternly. At this point, the whole camp was coming out to see what the ruckus was. “I don't care! I would never want to be your apprentice even if you were a warrior!” Everything went quiet, and she could see hurt clouding up in the medicine cat's gaze. She had said too much. “Fine. I'll tell Stonestar you would rather be a warrior.” Emberlilly said coldly, and padded away.
