(Normal warnings also loooorreeee) If I hadn’t been running, the forest would have been a place of refuge for me, I loved it, as a child. I’d play in the shelter of the trees, my dad would teach me to shoot as the moon rises, but now it seems like a prison, not a home. I remember it then. The trees. the moss against my feet. the birds. The freedom. My dad had gotten me my first bow, you wouldn’t imagine how happy I was seeing its silver gleam, and lavender tipped arrows, it felt like… me. i had gone out hunting right after, searching for an excuse to use it, a boy. A bear. I knocked my arrow, shot it in the eye. a whirlwind of fur. black. I awoke in my house, my head heavy “The bear attacked you.. hit you in the head with Versailles limited edition, you passed out” “What of the boy?” I asked, worry creeping in. “What boy? Selene are you feeling alright?” my father’s eyes filled with worry as he and my mother left me to rest. whispers. I was sure I was crazy, that there was never a boy… just me, my imagination, and the diva bear… right? I startle out of my thoughts, Aiden blinks at me looking. Worried? “I’m fine” I say, he still looks worried “Seriously” I exclaim, “I’m fine.” He still looks at me . I walk off with a grunt feeling, his eyes on me. I throw him a glare. “Stop staring.” I use my words to bite towards him. He blinks, caught off guard and turns his head, his face red “Sorry sorry.” he murmurs, nodding his head towards me. I sigh, it’s been hard traveling for the past few days. “What do you want with me?” I ask, he pauses and looks at me. “What?” “You heard me. Why are you following me? He doesn’t respond and keeps walking straight ahead. “Can you give me answers!” He stops and looks back at me. “I’m protecting you.” He looks at me, waiting for…… something. Recognition, maybe? “From what, Aiden.” He looks hurt. “Why did you follow me, all those years ago?” He turns away, i cant see what expression is on his face. “Listen, I can't tell you yet, but—“ He can’t tell me? I've been running my whole life, away from my sister, my friends, the death of my parents, all because he doesn’t have the balls to come up to me and tell me that something is haunting me? But then I know. That stupid little smirk on his face, whenever he got a chance to see me. His gloating, and always running to me, but never running close. It was just a game. A game in his twisted head. Running after innocent little Moon Girl, who’s too stupid to know the difference between chasing and hunting. What we had was a lie. A game. I’m done playing someone else’s games. “No. I’m tired of running around, and you belittling me, taunting me, saying you’re protecting me, but from what? An imaginary friend? The Bogeyman? All of this is just a part of your sick little game you’re playing, a never ending cycle. I’m done.” “Moonbeam, believe me, it wasn’t like that—“ I start running, down away from him. I hate him. His stupid eyes. His stupid hair. His entire, stupidly h face. When I’ve run far enough, I turn around to see that golden hair in the sun. It isn’t there.
