Rules: Do not Edit the Background! No Inapropiate stuff! No Fake Samir Allowed! Do not Break the Community Guidelines! Do not Change the Music! What is Vib-Ribbon? Vib-Ribbon is a 1999 minimalist rhythm video game developed by NanaOn-Sha and designed by Masaya Matsuura for the original PlayStation. Core Gameplay & Controls • The Character: You guide a wireframe vector rabbit named Vibri across a continuously moving line called the ribbon. • Obstacles: The ribbon features four basic obstacle types that correspond to the musical beats: blocks (L button), loops (R button), waves (X button), and pits (Down on the D-pad). • Combinations: The game increases difficulty by merging shapes, requiring you to press multiple inputs simultaneously (such as a block with a pit inside). • Evolution System: Success evolves Vibri into an upgraded form (like Queen Vibri), while errors cause her to degenerate from a rabbit into a frog, and eventually a worm. Unique CD-Swapping Feature • Custom Levels: The game loads its entire program into the PlayStation's 2MB RAM, allowing players to open the console tray, remove the Vib-Ribbon disc, and insert any standard audio music CD. • Algorithmic Generation: An internal algorithm analyzes the inserted music track to dynamically generate a custom, playable rhythm level on the fly. Release and History • Regional Skips: Initially released in Japan in December 1999 and Europe in 2000, the game was famously skipped in North America at launch due to its unconventional wireframe graphics. • Digital Port: Following fan demand and an impromptu E3 mention by Sony executive Shawn Layden, it finally saw a North American release on the PlayStation Network in 2014 for the PS3, PSP, and PS Vita.
