- Chapter 1 - Every year finding my school's GSA is like going on a scavenger hunt, since the location is almost always different. This year, Kellenworth Middle and High School seems to have chosen the back corner of the courtyard to be their queer gathering place. Most of the people in this group know me, at least by face if not by name. I walk across the courtyard, eyeing the people in the circle, picking out familiar faces and new ones. I spot a decent amount of people I recognize; A few friends from last year, a couple of relative strangers, and... Well, shoot. Kiara Applebloom sits cross legged on the grass, her plum colored skirt draped over her knees. The early October wind blows her dark hair across her face, and my breath catches at the sight of it. I force myself to look over her shoulder, trying not to stare at her. But oh my gosh, it's hard. I mean, it's always hard to not stare at cute girls, right? Actually, I'm not sure, I haven't had very many crushes. And I also don't seem to have very good taste. As if to prove my point, Kiara spots me walking towards the group and turns to the kid next to her, Venus Spear, with a smirk. She whispers something behind her hand, glances at me, and they both laugh. I've been crushing hard on Kiara for a year now, and I'm not sure why. I mean, she's got some stuff going for her. She's crazy pretty, whip smart, and normally a good person. Emphasis on normally, since she seems to despise me. We used to be friends, and my core group was her, Venus, and I for all of elementary school. But when we got to middle school she essentially ghosted me, and pulled Venus along with her. I don't blame Venus; They've always been a people pleaser, and Kiara is hard to ignore. I take a seat in the circle, as far from Kiara as I can get, and greet a few people with a smile. I let the groups chatter ebb and flow around me, and my hands anxiously pick at a clump of grass. I feel Kiaras eyes land on me, and, just as I'm about to glance up, a voice interrupts, saying, "Welcome to KMHS's GSA! I'm Mr. Corine, he/they, and I'm happy to be your club overseer this year." He's tall, with short dark hair that has an electric purple streak running through it. They're wearing a button up shirt that's covered in music notes, and I remember that they're the band teacher. I let his voice fade to the back ground as he talks about general club guidelines - no homophobia, racism, ableism, or any other kind of hate; keep what's said here private to here; be inclusive; - and then Mr. Corine says the words I should have seen coming, "Lets go around the circle and introduce ourselves. Name, pronouns, grade, and a fun fact!" Pronouns. Fun facts. Pronouns. What am I gonna say?
To (hopefully) be continued in chapter 2! Thanks to @superpenguin12 and @lilbugpal for saying I should put something on Scratch :P
