Olivia gently closed the door, then walked across the wooden floors to the kitchen. All the blinds were shut, the windows and doors locked. She added the cans she had collected to her growing pile of food and water bottles. After a quick count, she guessed she had enough to survive a few months, probably. As long as she had the fridge. Almost as soon as she said that, the lights suddenly cut off, the fridge stopping its hum. Olivia groaned in frustration and peeked out the window. All the power had shut off throughout the neighborhood. She would need more canned goods. She unrolled her map, spreading its crinkled paper onto the counter, and crossed an ‘X’ through the store she was just at. Yet another infected area. That left just one place left. Olivia re-rolled the map, stuck it in her bag, grabbed her crowbar, and walked out the door. The sun slowly set behind her as she walked down the alley. She had decided to start using alleys instead of main roads after seeing the monster too big to get through the window. Maybe they were all too big? She rounded the corner and saw the store. If this was also infected, she didn't know where she would get her food from. She walked to the front of the store and paused. The door and windows were boarded up. What was that all about? She walked to the door and knocked on the planks. “Hello? Anyone there?” Inside was silent. Olivia crouched down, peeking between the boards, and yelped when she saw a face staring back.
I'm so sorry this took so long, I'm falling behind on my writing schedule sadly gulp I just realized how short this is
