The bell rang. I was too caught up in my blank staring at my screen, without a single thought until the sound shattered that space. Someone I consider my classmate walks up to my desk, deciding to converse with me. She has been writing a script for a story of her own, and previously had requested I ask someone who I had connections to in my theater class if they could help her. I did so, and she got her friendly advice, and it was done. I figured she had gotten what she wanted, and would just walk comfortably beside me after thanking me again for such. I walked out of class. We both continued conversation. It was what I was known for, simply existing in the space of my classmates, enough to be known as a respectable, "chill" person. She spoke of her script getting flagged numerous times, which brought a sort of amusement to me. In the previous school year, she had written another script, in which I had warned her of writing such things, as she would get in trouble. She didn't. She did now. Something of the sort would have happened to me, and I would have grinned to myself. I suddenly felt a weight lift off of my shoulders, and acted as if I were a mother to her child. That was something I was good at. We continued talking about her story, and if she stammered, I would not belittle her about it, as she did to herself. We had to part ways, as her class was down another hallway, and so I waved her off. I did not find myself romantically attracted to her in any way, but in that moment, I saw her as a friend, rather than a classmate who resides silently beside me after a simple greeting. I expected my shoulders to stiffen back again, but I was suddenly hit with a different weight. Staring ahead, my eyes were focused. I did not zone out, not for a single second. It was an almost overwhelming sensation of thought and action at the same time. Bearing the sudden shift in my own reality, I could see it all. Continuing to walk, suddenly at a slower pace than my regular one. Each color on a student's clothing stuck out. A child's dyed hair. A pattern on a backpack. The movement of each head bobbing up and down is all taken in at the same time. My thoughts began to trail back to absent minded walking, but I forced that state back down. It felt so beautiful, to be aware of each and every aspect of my surroundings. Every consonant and word from passing conversations was as clear as day. My thoughts were constantly running, and yet, each foot was placed in front of each other so calmly, without haste, without a purpose as my subconscious brought me to my next class. As I set down my belongings, my very own breath grounded me. It was as though it did not belong to me. It was as though I was hearing another being breathing right beside me. I sat down in my chair, and could not bother to sigh. The sensation had faded eventually, and I sat silently, holding my breath. I can't remember how it had stopped, or what I was even doing. It felt beautiful. Now my eyes feel heavy with a tired weight. I had felt that sensation briefly with someone. I spent most of the time of its occurrence alone.
Instances where seemingly perfect relationships have existed for brief times of comfort in my life, yet they are quickly tossed aside and forgotten as the moment passes. Just as the creature I was born as. I only have one to two entities come to mind when thinking of camaraderie, the others simply either not as close, of lacking an understanding of me, or in my eyes, simply seek the connection they are driven to desire as the creature they are born as. A human, who after being satisfied, will go back to their own once more.
