Kyla and Maxine (another character yet to be drawn) grew up in the same poorer parts of the Kingdom of Veloria, where houses were old and streets were crowded. They were young and bonded instantly. One game they loved to play was Royals vs. Rebels, their way of coping with the situation. Kyla was always queen and Maxine the rebel in the outskirts of the kingdom. They made up entire stories about secret escapes, stolen treasures, and rebellions. Kyla’s family struggled financially and Maxine saw her less and less. The royal family was known to only have one child, a girl. Which only having one kid was viewed as bad fortune. Unfortunately a sickness broke out in the kingdom. The princess became very ill, and despite everything the family could afford, they couldn’t save her. Devastated, the palace became less lively and felt large and dull. Around the time, the queen often ran into little Kyla who loved the palaces garden and noticing it slowly dying took care of it. A short while later, the king and queen made a very unusual decision to adopt Kyla (which they paid Kyla’s parents, who loved her but needed a way out of debt). From then on, she was raised out of her past life into a new one of a princess. Kyla learned to speak with nobles, to dance, negotiate, and rule. Maxine’s life went the complete opposite direction. She grew up watching children starve, adults beg, and struggle all around. Eventually she dated a girl named, Mia, who introduced her to an underground rebellion. At first she wasn’t great or anything special, just angry and stubborn. But she slowly became great, she knew the streets, people, and shortcuts. Maxine became a legendary rebel.
