Okay, so not my best poem. I wanted to do something about fall, so... _______________ Why couldn't it have stayed that way, clinging happily to the tree? Instead the wind came, along with the cool weather. We shed our green skin, put on coats of red. Then one day, we all fell. Our feet came loose from our woody home, and down we went. tumbling through the abyss. It seemed never ending, this turbulent ride. When it was too much, I finally slammed against something new. Something green, lush, and soft. What is there to do now but wait? Wait for this life to end? Shriveling here, rotting? Why couldn't it have stayed that way, clinging through the tree? I no longer know the meaning of life, only the past. And that haunts me forever. ~Lulu~
