It glows in the distance, dim, gentle in a twisted kind of way. I roam the cave’s many tunnels, my eyes scanning for anything recognizable as edible, the light accompanying me. My highest priority is to find a water source—mostly to not die of dehydration—but also because of its inhabitants, like the blind crayfish that could be fuel until someone finds us. The red light darkens, flickering once, distracting me from my thoughts. Strange. I continue walking, bending over to feel for what I thought was a mushroom, revealing to be a stone. I grumble out my annoyance, standing straight once more. That light flickering once. Twice. Something is wrong. I shake my head, continuing to look Flicker. Flicker. Flicker. I swallow, instead listening for water. Something is wrong. No. Something is wrong. No. Someone yells in the distance and the red light goes out. Something is wrong. And so I take off in a sprint towards where the light used to be. *** Shoot, shoot, shoot. A small woman lays sprawled out on the ground, blood-encrusted cinnamon hair cascading around her like a halo. Her arm bleeds slowly, scabbed over and almost healed. Her chest rises and falls slowly, as if piles of stones lay on top of her. I squat next to the woman, the side of her shirt is ripped, revealing a wound underneath. I press fingers onto her throat, feeling for a pulse. Bu-dum. … Bu-dum. … Bu-dum. … Bu-dum It’s slow, but there. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. Alive. She’s alive. I make quick work of ripping the bottom of my annoyingly long and utterly long skirt, making it into a makeshift bandage to wrap around her torso I stand up again, looking at the woman again, but closer. Her body’s covered in warm blood, metallic and sickly sweet. Not bleeding, yet covered in blood, even in areas without wounds. Her arm is reached out towards what seems to be a pool of dried blood next to a small boulder, now filled with hers. I shake my head, taking a mental note of it. I wrap my arms under hers, grunting as I heave her over my shoulder, not caring if I get blood on my irksome dress. Maybe she’d even want to stay.
I was wondering why the bad word censor went off, maybe it was because I said a bad word three times in a row :_/ Man I swear, it can't be blood, bc I've said it so many times in chapter 2 Maybe wound? HAH, I found it, it was bc I mentioned the finger that is in the middle of your hand
