// Thank you @johnthe117 for the code // // also the music is the instrumental to "I AM BACK" from Bikini Horrors // If you have no idea who SpeedROM is (which you likely don't), it's my first (potentially) Sonic Oddity that I thought of. If you wan't the basic rundown of its lore: SpeedROM was a program made by a group of people to help introduce people to the Sonic 3 & Knuckles speedrunning community. How it would work is, after an Act was completed, the program would display their time, what they did, and how they could improve, along with Sonic pointing at whatever you were hovering on. You know, for fun. However when they were feeding it data of "The Perfect Run," they made a slight miscalculation, so when the playtesters completed a run, instead of a helpful guide, they were berated by this "evil" Sonic. It looked different compared to the sonic they used, sporting longer quills, purplish fur, white pupils with black outlines, and a watch in its left hand. Also, it looked extremely angry annoyed. It began to say things like "CAN YOU GO ANY FASTER?", "AND TO THINK YOU'RE TRYING TO BE A SPEEDRUNNER," and "IF YOU'RE THIS CLUMSY IN THE REAL WORLD THEN I'M SURPRISED YOU'RE STILL ALIVE." You see, after it was given data of "The Perfect Run," it assumed that every other run that wasn't EXACTLY like that, bar for bar, then it was automatically incorrect and too slow. After the playtesters reported this to the developers, they knew that wasn't supposed to happen, so they tried to fix it. Unfortunately, the evil Sonic got under their skin and consistently argued with them, halting progress. It would insult their speed, shame them, mess with the computer, overall just being a rick with a p before the r (cant say the word on scratch). So, all of the developers agreed they probably wouldn't be able to fix this as long as this...THING, is in there. So, they decided to scrap this version and make a new one. SpeedROM has been vengeful against its creators ever since. ...until it figured out how to get itself online. It made a rudimentary website, called "SONIC 3 & KNUCKLES SPEEDRUNNING HELPER TOOL," and waited for people to start downloading it, so it can relish in the joy of lowering people's self esteem.
