inktober adopt entry: Relic Deep within a mysterious library of magic, where years of dust had begun to settle, a peculiar energy came to life. Over the years, the residual magic of the of the first librarian and the cozy, comforting essence of the library itself had fused together. From a forgotten spellbook sitting atop the bookshelves, Relic was born. Relic is a curious creature indeed, they possess the sleek, agile body of a cat, but is also adorned with leathery wings, the horns of a ram, and a tail adorned with a radiance fit for Apollo himself. For the first few years of their life, Relic lived secretly among the towering bookshelves, sometimes jumping out to surprise passing readers. They happily slept curled up on the highest shelves, conversing with bookworms, and occasionally singeing the edges of encyclopedias when they sneezed. It all changed, one day, when the library was ransacked by power-hungry scholars seeking forbidden books. Relic watched in horror as the library that been their home for so long was damaged. Realizing the world outside was more important to them than the library, Relic spoke a spell they had heard but never used, a spell that transformed and scattered them all around the world. They are now able to protect all libraries from the fate their home suffered. You can find them as part of the calm ambience in your local library, or part of the many pages in your favorite book. the ending sucks why did i even write this? i don’t rlly need the char
