I wrote this to be a sorta "Shakespearean" style of sonnet, with the ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme, 14 stanzas, all with 10 syllables (if you pronounce "sapphire" and "diamond" with 2 syllables apiece, which, I do), and a volta or tone change around stanza 3, though perhaps my iambic parameters do not completely line up as required. Oh, well.
