Once, there was a wise girl and a foolish king. The foolish king one day was by a river, ordering the river to move away from his kingdom: "Go away, river! You are blocking the cows, which means my army cannot eat!" So the river began to wash away, leaving a long hollow stretching across the forest. The king called the cows over, but the cows didn't move. They would fall into the hollow if they tried to cross over to the king. The king called again: "Get over here, you foolish cows!" Suddenly, the wise girl who was reading a book from a quiet corner came over. "How foolish can you be!? If the cows cross, they will fall into the hollow now that you have vanished the river!" The king insisted that the cows could cross over just fine. "They can walk slowly down!", he said. The wise girl shook her head. "They will trip on rocks, causing them to tumble downward". The king was now madder than ever, and he said, "I will show you!" He then walked down into the hollow, head high. Suddenly, he tripped onto a rock, landing head first on a dead fish from when he vanished the river. He screeched in agony as he fell to the bottom of the hollow. The wise girl sighed. "He should've listened", she murmured. She stared down at the kings d3ad body, and called, "Oh, river, we need you! The king was so foolish, but now he is gone! Please, return to us!" The river came rushing back into the empty hollow, and lifted the kings body up. The wise girl bowed her head, and waited until the king was out of sight to raise it. She called out to the cows, telling them to swim across. The cows did so, and the wise girl took them back to the kingdom. (The end!)
