I want to ask you guys this question on the screen- are you ok? The answer in your mind is yes, but your heart? It says no. You might be breaking right now, but you still smile. And that’s some real talent. People ask you ‘How are you?’. Society has taught you to say ‘I’m fine, how about you?’. But you want to say, ‘I’m breaking…but I’m good for you’. Because in society, sadness is banned. If you cry, you are fragile and selfish. If you are too happy, you are showing off. We can’t be neither without them talking behind our back. Sadness is not an emotion to be hidden-it is to be embraced. Would we understand the value of being happy without being sad? No. And maybe that’s why our happiest moments come right after we’re sad. It’s not comforting- it’s called comaparing two situations, without knowing. I know it’s tough to just be sad. And I’m not asking you to be sad. I’m asking you to not hide your sadness when you are. But that’s not easy. So what’s the solution? Vent. It’s the only way. Vent to your most trusted person, or maybe even me. I understand what you feel. Everytime I cry, I am told not to. But it’s your life, not theirs. So the next time you cry, don’t fight back the tears. Take it all out. It’s fine. Let society say what they want. Because you’re the one fighting your own battles, not them. So express your emotions-and let them whine about it later.
