In about 5 - 8 billion years, our Sun will go through her red giant phase and consume Mercury, Venus, and maybe even our planet, Earth. (Or Tellus as the Objecians call her) But don't worry, our Sun won't actually explode. Only giant, blue stars can. Instead, our Sun will eventually run out of core hydrogen completely and release massive stellar winds, forming a planetary nebula. Our sun then becomes a white dwarf, slowly cooling and dimming until she becomes a black dwarf over quadrillions of years. But still, her red giant phase alone will cause chaos across our entire system. Turning Tellus and Mars into boiling, unrecognizable lava orbs, consuming Mercury and Venus, ect.
