hi I am demonstrating how I use Spotify to find new songs for my characters / massive recommendations playlist - caps warning for below I use my online nickname as my Spotify acc name so I don’t have to worry about sharing playlists and junk with people fyi so step one is. listen to a whole lot of music you like!! I have over 1500 different songs I listen to because of Spotify and I’ve been using it for almost a year so it knows a lot of content I like (mainly hololive) but we’re not going with that right now! for now just pick a song you like / has a similar vibe to one you want (I was listening to mayday, mayday last so I used this as my example) you can pull up the album cover (picture 1) and it will have what is playing, below it will have artist information such as the name and a blurb about them that, if tapped, leads to their Spotify profile (as seen in photo 2) and who helped with the song, if they have events coming up those can be there and lyrics can be there - at the bottom should be three little rectangles (bottom of photo 2) for this example I tapped the one on the far right, which is “songs like (playing song)” - the middle one is “songs like (artist you’re playing)” - the far left is “more by (artist you’re playing)” some of the songs it recommends are by the artist, like the one here, which is What an amazing swing (some of these snippets have previews of the MV provided by the artist - photo three), the second one is another example of this but with Towa(photo 4)and the third is another Towa song(photo 5). Based off this, I might look into Towa for songs similar to mayday, mayday. You will also notice tags attached, so you can see if there are common music types you listen to. (Photo 6 is simply here to show that the app will provide upcoming releases if they fall within the criteria.) While opened to these song snippets, you will see this button on the right, next to the song’s name and the artist(s) name(s). By tapping that you can quick add a song to your liked songs, and then again to add to a playlist. Photo 7 is where you are dropped when you open up search tab. If you scroll down a little bit(photo 8), there will be a “discover something new” header and it will give you “music for you” first, and then other genres and topics you like or have shown interest in (which is why you should listen to a lot of music first if you’re focusing on music - I sometimes listen to podcasts, so I have one there) I listen to a ton of jpop, jirai kei(landmine style), and yami kawaii (sick-cute) so those are usually first photo 9 is when I open this (yami kawaii) up - I recognized the vocalist as someone I like and I thought the song sounded cool, so I saved it Photo 10 is another song, just for the sake of variety Then I went out and was yapping at my twin at which point I decided to show another example, so again, I took photo 11 of Carbonated Love album cover Photo 12 is when I scroll down, and 13 is when I click on “music like this artist” - I love Ina music so you can see I already have TEMARI saved Photo 14 is a Towa song I have heard I just always forget to save(proving again I listen to a lot of Towa), 15 is another upcoming release (I could hear the DYES IWASAKI composing in this one) and 16 is another example 17 is NoDistance cover because I stopped and decided I’d show you smth else ahaha (this entire album is fire Sickbay Mistake especially) 18 is link to Choco profile, 19 is where it drops me when I tap on it, 20 that when you scroll it will automatically show you most-listened songs, then 21 is popular released albums 22 is after I go back to the song and the “more by this artist” tab, you can see LoveTrick, and then for 23 and 24 as other songs by Choco 25 is showing a playlist I have public on Spotify (I mess around with its description pretty often lol, I was happy this one wasn’t mostly Holo songs and did a rough calculation and slapped that up) - you can see it’s been saved, the total time it takes to listen to, and 26 is showing that it will recommend songs at the bottom I have heard all of the songs it’s recommending there except for Pop It, missed the premiere for that because of school and I’m so sour I haven’t touched it yet <3 best song there is ABOVE BELOW imo
for those curious. I don’t upload images for playlist thumbnails, I just keep the default, which is the album cover of the first four songs you added.. I have them memorized ehehe. Top left is HELP!! by Kobo Kanaeru (“ah, what a spectacular failure // help! Mother, father, I couldn’t be a good girl until the end, that’s why” - this was because of OG draft Merodi lore, when she wasn’t the bean we know but we still loved), top right is CHRONIC by Anya Melfissa(“walking round in reality, I’m so done done // feel like I’m losing my gravity, my vision, of you that I see so clearly in my mind // I’m so you // my thoughts collide in my mind, I know I really should try to think to think on my own but I // we’re t-t-together it’s true I think I’m becoming you, don’t blink don’t blink” - this was for an insane amount of reasons and feels purely like Merodi because of those, I don’t even know where I’d start and omg Monii lyrics - vro 100/10 I highly recommend this song), bottom left is Backseat by Kaela Kovalskia(“tangled up in knots, feeling lost in this uncertainty // chasing rainbows, drowning in shattered moonbeams // no one to blame but me, myself, and I” - it sounds like boss music, like Through Patches of Violet if I had to compare, and since Merodi is often lost within her thoughts I picked this), and bottom right is The Great Wanderer, from Takanashi Kiara’s Point of View album, though it now doubles for Retrospective(“passing by familiar roads // I couldn’t find the reason why // who I am you couldn’t know // stuck in the ruins my disillusion // in between the dual reality, my desire keeps me to you, oo // moving faster than the light can, I’m in the absence, alone looking back” “I can feel your voice leading me through the void // fade away, into the gray” - again this feels very deeply in tune with Merodi so I added it <3 this also has Monii lyrics because I absolutely love Monii lyrics and she works a lot with Kiara and IRyS) I listen to Merodi’s playlist fairly often, it even has some One-X songs because I don’t only listen to Hololive, I listen to this one specific album of Three Days Grace
