The thought is this: we are in a desperate situation, living a dystopian reality. We drown out that truth with other things—books about fantastical palaces, social media videos, or our own personal lives—but it remains a truth that affects us all collectively. It is a desperate situation, and we cannot simply stand by and do nothing. Writing and reading books, and posting about them on social media, is all very nice; yet, in the end, we often do nothing and simply carry on with our lives without making the change that you—and others—need. There are people unable to eat, sleep, or live; families torn apart or never united in the first place. It is a structural problem, not just a matter of a single mad politician who cares about no one. Someone is funding that politician; someone made it possible for them to be voted for and supported—and the world remains the same, regardless of which politician is in charge. ✰ written: oct 10th 2026
