The Federal Post - 12 October 2028 "Prison of Rubies: Awakening or Fabrications?" by Mohammed Shabuz -------------------------------------- Following the recent passage of press-freedom and anti-censorship laws, citizens have increasingly turned to B. H. Rohiullah's "A Prison of Rubies: The Rise of Oligarchical Socialism", possibly one of the FRSN's most controversial works. Published in March 2028, Prison of Rubies examines political developments in Taikavia, Hegemon, the former OCCP, and, in the Extended Version officially published on October 9 (with additional material by A. T. Hussain), Karakia and Astinia, focusing on the rise to power of their ruling establishments and the methods used. Both Rohiullah and Hussain connect these developments to recurring themes of "oligarchical absolute socialism" while remaining highly skeptical of the modern achievements of these societies, citing unforeseen atrocities within their frameworks. When originally published, Prison of Rubies was heavily censored in the NPH, with Mahmoud Shanto's cabinet criticizing it as a "terrorist" work. Rohiullah was arrested subsequently and then was pronounced dead 48 hours after the announcement of his arrest. The book also remains under heavy scrutiny by the Federal Workers' Party (FWP), citing some references to far-right ideas (Rohiullah was a member of the Aromagian National Workers' Party, a prominent far-right party at the time). Despite the controversies, however, Prison of Rubies remains a bestseller in the FRSN, ranking 22nd among the Rheic Federation's best-selling works and earning around $1M in gross revenue. Meanwhile, copies are being sold even outside the FRSN.
