[Chapter Ten - Vee] It was quiet. Vee hated the quiet because it let her be alone with her thoughts and memories. And, since there was nothing to do as a PC on a desk, all she could do was think and remember horrible things. But today, the quiet wasn’t actually too bad. It was sort of relaxing to get a break from the other toons. “Vee!” Nevermind. “What do you want?” Vee retorted, trying to sound as irritated as possible to see if maybe that will make Shelly change her mind about coming in the room. “The Christmas toons are here!” Shelly exclaimed, coming into the room anyway. Breathless, she added, “A-And Glisten.” “Cool.” Vee mumbled. “I’m going to tell Sprout too, okay?” She began to leave the room. “I’ll bring everyone here in maybe three minutes, okay? Be right back!” Great. More toons. Just what she needed. “Okay…” She responded despite herself. In about three minutes, as Shelly promised, Ginger, Rudie, and Glisten came into the room, following Shelly. Ginger looked nervous, Rudie looked like he was ready to get out of here, and Glisten stood outside the room, staring at the floor very intensely. “Here they are!” Shelly announced. Ginger stared at Vee for a few moments, dazed, before snapping out of it. “What happened to you, Vee?” She asked. “A very traumatic experience that I’m not in the mood to unpack right now.” Vee deadpanned. After a moment of silence, Shelly let out a nervous laugh to break it. “So…” Shelly said. “What are we going to do with them? Are you we going to… keep them here? Or…?” “They can stay here if they want.” Vee noticed how jittery Shelly was and decided not to comment on it. “Although I’m not exactly sure if we have enough food for six toons now.” “Well, we have some supplies and food at the Christmas floor we could bring over.” Ginger said. “Are you sure we should live here?” Glisten says, finally looking up. “I- I mean… We’re perfectly fine on the Christmas floor!” “Are you just saying that because Vee?” Rudie glances over to him. “What-? No!” Glisten retorts, but after a moment he goes back to staring at the floor and mumbles something. “What’s wrong?” Vee asks. “He thinks you intentionally left him out of the virtual world because you hate him.” Rudie said before Glisten could stop him. “NO! I- I never-” Glisten stammered, then sighed when he couldn’t get anything coherent out. “We just couldn’t get you or the holiday toons in the virtual world because we couldn’t find you.” Vee sighed. “And Pebble because we did NOT want to risk going near him. I don’t hate you, Gl-” “Whatever! I don’t care! I don’t! Shut up!” Glisten exclaimed, teary eyed, before storming off. Rudie and Ginger exchanged a look before Rudie mumbled, “I’ll go after him…”, and went off to follow Glisten. “Well, it’s good to know he’s still a drama queen…” Vee muttered sarcastically, which earned her a dire look from Shelly. “I-I’m… going to go back to Dandy.” Shelly said abruptly. “Come on, Ginger.” Ginger hesitantly followed Shelly, giving one last glance at Vee before leaving the room. There. Peace and quiet. Peace and quiet that lasted approximately two minutes before someone else came in. This time, it was Sprout. She used to really like the presence of Sprout, but now it’s awkward. Especially because this ‘Sprout’ acts very weird. Like he’s trying to hard to be Sprout correctly. ‘He has amnesia.’ Vee thought. ‘He’s not going to be the same instantly… I don’t know why I’m so suspicious of him.'
[continued] “Hi Vee.” He said it slowly, like he was making sure he was getting it right. “Hey.” She responded simply. ‘Well, it’s better safe than sorry…’ “Are you the actual Sprout?” He stared at her, almost shocked. “Huh? Yes?” “Why did you sound so unsure about it?” Vee snickered. “I don’t know! Are you the real Vee?” “I’m pretty sure I am.” Vee then got very serious all of a sudden. “And I’m pretty sure you’re not the real Sprout.” “Why do you think that?” There was an edge in his voice. “Well, first of all, you can’t remember much about me or Shelly.” “I have amnesia-” “I know.” Vee continued. “But, second of all, you act nothing like Sprout!” “I do! Because, I don’t know, I AM Sprout?!” “No, because the real Sprout wouldn’t be arguing like this with me right now!” Sprout let out an angry (or maybe exhausted) sound before looking away. “I’ve only been back for a week! Also, you died too, so maybe your memory is foggy too!” “I remember everything. I'm a machine.” “Okay, but-” Sprout trailed off. Vee sighed. “If you’re the real Sprout, then you can answer this question.” “Okay. Sure. What is it.” Vee paused for a second. She hadn’t actually thought of a question. Oops. She sort of just expected him to disengage with her at this point. “Um…” “What?” he inquired. “Which arm did you lose first…?” Vee sounded so confused asking it that you would’ve thought she didn’t know the answer herself. Although, she did know. “What do you mean?” “You lost one of your arms to Pebble! You have to remember that at least!” Sprout stared at his two perfectly fine arms. They were both regenerated from the revival machine. “Um… Left arm…?” “That’s not-” Vee began to say, before- “Vee, what are you doing?” Dandy walked in, ducking beneath the doorway, sounding almost exasperated. “She’s asking me weird questions…” Sprout mumbled. “No I’m not!” Vee exclaimed. “I’m not paranoid!” “I never said you were…?” Dandy looked toward Sprout, then Vee again. “Whatever. His head’s still a bit… messed up from everything, so stop pestering him.” “I’m not pestering him! I’m asking him important questions!” “Like?” “None of your business!” When Vee and Dandy started arguing, Sprout saw this as his opportunity to slip out of the room unnoticed. He didn’t want to talk with Vee or Dandy or Shelly or anybody, really, anymore. He didn’t ask to come back and have to deal with… whatever this is. Why did Vee doubt he’s really Sprout? Everyone keeps telling him he’s Sprout, so he’s Sprout. Despite the fact that he really doesn’t feel like Sprout. ----------------------------------------------------- Art: @--Gumii-- Song: I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams by weezer Previous: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1363437416/ Next: WIP oh my gosh when I finally started writing this chapter it's actually been 67 days since I last made a virtual world chapter. no thats not a 67 joke I'm being so serious I counted and August 4th was 67 days ago when I started writing this oh my gosh. wow ok.
