"im so bored here" "spop aint what it used to be" "i miss nov-dec 2025" well as someone who had a long running problem with romanticizing the past a while ago i can def say that jsut getting caught up on "i want 2025 back" and doing things only to recreate 2025 is only going to make us feel worse about it, yk what they say, trends are like farts if you force them they're poop ‼️‼️ i think a lot of this problem boils down to these mini problems: 1 good promo is kinda hard to come by and it feels like its been forever since anything actually got a lot of reach outside the comm, i have a separate proj for promo tips if you wanna check that out here https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1385948229/ 2 in the time since dec 2025 or so the spop comm has been a lot more used to being a really active chatroom in addition to being a music comm, to the point where i feel like sometimes its more of a chatroom than a music comm (this was mostly over the summer though) the chatroom thing isnt really a pressing issue by itself but combining it with a shortage of people promoting outside the comm thinking their popularity in the chatroom meant everything they post would automatically blow up................yea im assuming thats why we had so many people just saying "STREAM (link)" in the chatroom a few times as their only promo. dw this is not me trying to shade anyone, i was definitely a victim of these comm-wide issues when i was promoting 333. another effect of the comm being so contained in one place was probably those really unnatural-looking view/like ratios, remember when there would always be like 50 views and 49 likes, or more likes than views even?? not to say we should be ungrateful and disregard the views and likes we got during that time im just saying a lot of stuff literally looked botted
im making this proj because i have seen less of all of this since the end of summer tbh, i do think spop is healing! + there are also always more people active on scratch in general during the skl year because people get their computers back! but i also have some ideas on how to help it along iykwim: ive been saying this around the comm but just LISTEN TO MORE SPOP‼️‼️‼️ HELP BOOST EVERYTHING YOU SEE!!! this is why im using the top of the desc as ad space for projs i think are underrated now, i always tried to pay attention to them but it's especially important now!!! + when a song does blow up huge it's a massively good thing for the entire comm cs it means new people will find out about it, think about it, i would guess like half of 5th gen found the comm through bonnie & clyde by kdnse or one of the other huge popular songs that came out around that time! and having more people in the comm starts a domino effect that leads to more views for everyone, like think about how we just had song after song after song in 2025 to hit like 500 views. this is undoubtedly because there were just more people in the comm speaking of blowing up ill also just drop this promo tips link again drama and jealousy and just general negativity directed at specific people actually do affect the entire community you know, and again you cant say you miss 2025 spop and then turn around and spread negativity because 2025 spop was generally a fun and welcoming environment to grow your music and make friends in and that's a big reason so many people miss it. like it felt like we were finally working together and appreciating each other instead of being against each other and jealous of each other all the time, for more context there was a LOT of that in spring/summer 2025. by spreading negativity you are scaring people away from the comm instead of inviting people in + in general doesnt being a good respectful supportive person sound so much more appealing than being a troublemaker the takeaway is how you should really stop thinking "how will this affect /me/" and start thinking "how will this affect /the comm/" because this will be a community-wide effort and i guess its your choice whether or not to actually do these things but im just saying, youre helping prevent the comm from hitting another peak if you don't do them. YOU want spop to be active, not toxic, and appreciative of everyone's music right? again you cant say you want 2025 back if youre not willing to do the things that made it special. BUT DON'T DO THINGS JUST FOR THE SAKE OF RECREATING THE PAST EXACTLY BECAUSE AGAIN IVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THAT BEFORE AND EVERY TIME IVE DONE SOMETHING LIKE THAT IRL ITS NEVER WORKED EVEN ONCE thank you ‼️‼️
