it's a mee a-mario! base explanation: Mario starts out of 3 lives then if you go to world 3-1, at the end mario pounces on the koopa shell and lives will go up, going up to 10 or as known as crownty. The other 10 is undefined tho, because 10 isn't mentioned in the lives, if you go beyond crownty then it will goes to letters and some random junk.
