Press flag then space This is a letter dedicated to my past self and inspiration for other new and already going artists Ten Things to Know Dear Sua, to be honest it's weird to look at where our art started versus where it is now. I wonder if you remember filling up all those sketchbooks, or if you still feel like a total beginner back then. When I look at your first drawings, they look completely crazy. The anatomy was completely off, the legs…were really long resembling toothpicks stuck into a potato wearing a dress. But now looking at what I can do today, I can see a huge difference. Our lines are smoother, the body shapes actually look right, and all those hours of frustrating practice are finally showing itself. Learning to animate has brought so much life into our sketches. The characters can move now, shifting across the page like autumn leaves caught in a subtle breeze. This passion and love comes from the shows and fandoms, some of which you still do! Like Five Nights at Freddy's, Gravity Falls, and The Owl House. They became sparks that lit up our imagination and taught us some great life lessons. Getting better at art was never easy for us, for you….well you are me. You had spent hours drawing paws and hands, fluffy tails and ears, humans were hard too ok. Through all of these mistakes, I learned that growing up as an artist is like a flower that needs rain. Just as flowers grow the same thing happened with our art, our skills got better because you pushed through those messy drawings. When you want to give up please remember Moms advice to never give up, never lose your passion for your gift. Mom was right, Dad was too. He said “It's not how you start, it's how you finish”. I also learned to most of all be honest about work, not just art. It’s easy to finish a drawing on Sunday night and say it’s perfect just because you’re tired but pushing past that to fix the mistakes… is exactly what you should do to improve. So you should never give up, don’t ever ever do that. In the end, I want you to know that your mistakes are perfectly okay. Art is a wild animal, not some science class or math homework. The small flaws you worry about are exactly what made your style unique in the first place. Keep protecting your originality instead of any internet trends. I hope that you are proud of yourself to know that in the future, we are creating not only art but inspiration, joy, and stories from this art. Now you know that this is who you are, you are worth it because you …are you. With honors, Future Sua.
