This locomotive was built in June 1994 by GE Transportation of Erie, Pennsylvania. This locomotive is part of the June 1994 order by CSXT as Nos. 9100 - 9102. Story: This locomotive was originally built as Nos. 9102, before being renumbered as Nos. 3 when CSX numbered Nos. 9100 - 9102 to Nos. 1 - 3 and the immediate follow-ups to 9113 as 4 - 14, as part of a flagship numbering to single-digit numbers and low double-digit numbers, to give the Alternating-Current locomotives a flagship status. CSX also gave 9100 - 9102 (1 - 3) distinctive "lightning bolt" decals on the cab to denote that it is an AC-traction locomotive from other DC (Direct Current) locomotives. Later on, in 2019, CSX announced that they would be rebuilding hundreds of their AC4400s, classifying them as "CM44AC" or "CM44AH", depending on what number they are assigned to, partnering with Wabtec for the rebuilds, when CSX rebuilt the first AC4400, Nos. 7200 (originally numbered as Nos. 202). In July of 2020, CSX sent Nos. 3 to be rebuilt into a CM44AC, renumbering it into 7011. General Description: The GE AC4400CW, sometimes referred to as "AC44CW", is a 4,400 horsepower (3,280 kW) diesel-electric locomotive that was built by GE Transportation Systems between 1993 and 2004. It is similar to the Dash 9-44CW, but uses AC traction motors instead of DC, with a separate inverter per motor.
