A 3D dance animation editor designed to be simple, remixable, and lightweight, using modest rendering to keep you from running to TW. When the project starts, you can choose to load either of the two demo-animations (the Macarena, or the Floss), or to start a new animation, from scratch. If you have entered the editor and want to load the demos, you have to reload the project. Add and edit key frames (like poses), and the project will morph between these in sync with the music. In Design mode you see the orthographic Edit View to the left and the perspective Camera View to the right. Unlike Playback, Design mode uses "anatomical color-coding". DESIGN: EDIT VIEW In the Edit View, you can select one or more nodes and drag to move them either in the X and Y directions (Front and Back projections) or the Z and Y directions (Left and Right projections). You can cycle the projection of the Edit View by clicking the label in the upper left corner. If you've selected a single node, you can use the arrow keys to move it. This is useful, for instance, if the node is obscured by other nodes: you can select it in one projection, then switch projection and move the node using the keyboard. DESIGN: EDIT CONTROLS When a single joint node is selected (e.g. a shoulder or elbow): B slider: can be used to Bend a limb at the selected joint node. R slider: can be used to Rotate a limb at the selected joint node. Plus: duplicates the current frame. Minus: deletes the current frame. Shift buttons: shifts (or moves) the current frame left or right in the animation. Select All: selects all nodes in the Edit View. Deselect All: deselects all nodes in the Edit View. Music Settings: allows you to configure song number, BPM, frames per beat, time offset and animation easing. Color Settings: allows you to configure line width, as well as line, ground and sky color. DESIGN: CAMERA VIEW & FRAME CAMERA The Camera View to the right shows a 3D projection. Initially, it uses the default or frame camera settings, but this can be changed using the sliders as described below. D slider: sets the camera distance in relation to the stickman. H slider: sets the camera height above ground A slider: sets the camera angle around the stickman. Save: stores the current camera settings as the Frame Camera. Restore: uses the stored Frame Camera to set the current camera. Match: sets the current camera to match the current projection direction in Edit View. Prev.: loads the previous frame's Frame Camera as the current camera. After Match and Prev: Click Save if you want to save the current camera as the current frame's Frame Camera. PLAYBACK Start Playback of your animation by clicking the Playback button in the lower right corner in Design mode. Click the Camera/Hand in the upper right corner to toggle between using the Frame Camera and controlling the camera with your mouse/touchscreen. Click the lower right corner again to go back to Design mode. REMIX IT Remix to share your dance. You can either just add and edit frames and change the song playing, and then click remix and share. Or, you can go further, and add music (see below) or anything else you come up with. Would be fun to see some creative remixes! ADDING A SONG IN A REMIX Import the song to Sounds in the Playback sprite. Add its BPM (beats / minute) to the "Song - BPM" list. Add easing, a number 0 to 1, to the "Song - Ease" list. Add zero, or whatever is a suitable animation delay for the song, to the "Song - Offset" list. "Number of songs" is automatically set to the number of items in the list "Song - BPM", which must correspond to the number of items in the "Song - Offset" list, and to the actual number and order of songs in Sounds. If you don't feel like remixing, post your dance Save Codes here: I'm afraid the music information is not included in the Save code, as the song list and music settings may change. So you'll have to include that with your post. All code and art by me (). Except the HSB/RGB Converter code, from 's project: Music credit is in the Playback sprite.
