Guys I think I love white fineliners a little too much. Jumalan Terve! (yap warning) Inspired by Chrissy's recommendation for Torchlighters I might link the episode she specified, except IDK if Scratch will allow it. Even thought it's for ages 8+, it does contain a scene were Adorinam looks to be beaten up.. because that's what actually happened, and there is bl00d in the scene so like again Scratch please don't ban me. I started this drawing at almost midnight yesterday lol. Adoniram and Ann Judson were the first missionaries in Myanmar. Just like right now, Myanmar at that time (which was the Konbaung Dynasty) wasn't safe for Christians. Judson ended up getting arrested in Ava (not to be confused with the Ava kingdom from back then) and faced REALLY terrible conditions, most which I can't even describe here on this kids site. He did have a lot of achievements. He translated the Bible into Burmese as well as write the first Burmese-English dictionary. During this time, the Anglo-Burmese wars also took place so doing something like this was dangerous. Most of his early converts were people from minorities like the Mon and Karen. In fact, the Karen are very well known as Christians. Sadly, due to the current war in Myanmar, most of Karen Christians live in Thailand and the U.S. because the Burmese government isn't very Christian friendly. Oh, and I drew his wife. His wife was also a missionary, and she helped out while Adoniram was in prison. Ann was also a mother-to-be during this time, and her first kid was born while Adoniram was in prison. I'm really proud of this drawing. The ONLY thing I'm not a big fan of is the background. I combined the Christian flag (Adoniram was Baptist) and the Myanmar flag. I could do the Konbaung Dynasty flag instead but nobody would understand the ref unless they really are investing in 1700s-1800s Myanmar lore. May God bless and help the people of Myanmar. And I mean EVERYBODY in Myanmar. The Bamar, the Karen, The Karenni, the Shan, the Mon, the Kachin, the Arakanese (Rakhine), the Palaung, the Wa, the Pa'O, the Rohingya, everybody else I haven't mentioned. Pray for Myanmar, the country really needs our prayers right now.
Chrissy for introducing me to Torchlighters! again, I already knew about Judson's story, but I understood more from the video Chrissy told me. Adoniram himself for being such a huge inspo for me. I really want to mission in Myanmar (as many of you guys know) and I pray one day it can be a reality The song in the background is SHZ 417 - The Greatest Gift is Love. This is a Laestadian hymn, but I feel like thiz hymn, along with SHZ 394 (specifically verses 4 to 6) will be my theme hymns for my mission trip.
