The greatest strength and one of the two things to have been pioneered by the Foundation to preserve the Veil most efficiently, Amnestics (& Anomalous Memetics for that matter) are amnesia-inducing agents that directly target the human brain and force the rewriting of neurotic functions in various forms. Once used to induce immediate brain death, the foundation has managed to innovate on these agents to the point where they are able to deliberately suppress & purge. Amnestics by the Foundation are typically used in the form of Aerosol to suppress memorandum in unwanted places worldwide. Combined with their usage of the Frontispiece, detection of the Foundation by untrained minds has become impossible to conduct (to their testing, at least). Variants have been used to deliberately assault World Leaders, Heads of Hostile Groups, & peculiar threats to ensure Foundation supremacy over the planetary Veil. Of course, this does not mean that Amnestics are an end-all be-all; It is incredibly easy to cause overdose and can lead to nausea, constipation, extended air headedness, up to and including brain damage or "Unintended Side Effects". Similarly, Amnestics are not universal; Aliens, Cyborgs, certain extreme neurodivergences, and other organisms who's brains diverge from the sapient norm require their own forms of Amnestics to tread on the same way the Foundation can do with humans. High and constant exposure to Amnestics may result in partial resistance of the brain if it doesn't cause an overdose first. The Amnestics Division is a highly funded portion of the Foundation and applies analytical & Neurological data when possible to support the mass production & innovation of Anomalous amnesia agents forward for usage in operations. Led by O5-08 since its inception in the 21th century, [REDACTED] has kept the division at its most well-suited past T.D. The general classification guide for usage of Amnestics for this Foundation was born from the [Proposal for the Classification of Synthetic, Non-Anomalous Amnestic Agents] by Dr. Chandra. CLASS A: 'ONESHOT' Amnestics are the most commonly used Amnestics in localized operations. The agent targets highly episodic memories (i.e Encounters with Anomalous phenomenon) and promptly numbs them. Class A Amnestics are used recreationally by staff, field agents, and MTF personnel. CLASS B: 'NORMAL' Amnestics are the agents used in globalized aerosol campaigns. They induce a sense of foundation-perceived 'Normalcy' into people's brains, and cause memories of Anomalous phenomena to be disassociated by subtle modification in their neural pathway. Attempts to integrate them into the global water supply have been pushed back against for possible environmental catastrophe. CLASS C: 'TIMETAP' Amnestics are incremental agents that go either forward or backward in their erasure of memories, up to 24 hours. These are typically used in laboratory trials by researchers to investigate neurological side effects nowadays. These are typically deployed via injection in the individual's bloodstream, and causes sedation. CLASS D: 'DENIAL/ENNUI' Amnestics. While similar to Class B, Ennui Amnestics apply their effect on a permanent scale and drastically modify the brain to accept the Anomalous as 'normal' rather than degrade it into normal incidence. These amnestics are covered under the Ennui Protocol, and have been used twice in the Foundation's Lifetime. CLASS E: 'EXISTENTIAL/FUGUE' Amnestics. These are used specifically for erasing memories indiscriminately and forcing a new personality onto their subject. Primarily used in experiments, but also has been conducted on various governments across the planet such as Eastern Samothrace. Other examples include [REDACTED ON ORDER OF THE OVERSEER COUNCIL]. Other types of Amnestics certainly exist and are in wide usage across Foundation operations, but these are the most well-known & common.
