Art belongs to someone on Facebook. Boku no Hero Academia, or My Hero Academia, is the manga and anime series created by Kohei Horikoshi and animated by Studio Bones. This is my BNHA fanfic series. It takes place just after the Final War. Here we go! (VERY LONG) "Blonde Bombers & Flying Flags" PROLOGUE: WITNESS TO VICTORY As the Final War unfolded miles away in Japan, the whole world watched with bated breath. The United States had suffered a profound loss after the tragedy of their top hero. After Star and Stripe’s sudden and catastrophic d3ath, they could only spectate the calamity that would befall them if her sacrifice had been in vain. But her memory would be honored. A battalion of US Army soldiers were in the barracks. Sergeant Byrd, a tall, heavy built man, sat on the bench as his gaze fell on the screen. Beside him, Barch, his former drill sergeant, usually grizzled and cynical as a veteran who’d seen one too many mortars, smirked at the sight of a concussive blast. On the screen, rising from the rubble, his crimson eyes glowing a bright, wild vermilion, was Bakugo Katsuki. The boy had come back from the grave, even after suffering a fatal blow to his heart, a strike dealt to him by Tomura Shigaraki. But even he could not subdue the Symbol of Victory. Bakugo was flying across the stormy grey sky, a trail of brilliant sparks behind him, shining a thousand shades of scarlet and gold, glowing like the embers of a supernova as he shattered the heavens in a blaze of glory. His efforts certainly hadn’t gone unnoticed. One world, five oceans, seven continents, 195 countries, 1700+ provinces, 48000 cities, 8.3 billion people, and all of them were watching him. And let me tell you, America was born from war, and the child in Japan caught her attention. Sergeant Barch let out a low whistle. “That kid’s got more C4 in ‘im then I’d ever seen in an IED!” he chuckled, reaching for his can of cheap soda. Tinker, known to the others as the submachine gunner “Tink Tink”, was laughing at the idea. “Good thing he’s on our side! Hey, Sapper Byrd! Ya think you could take this kid head on?” he said boisterously. Byrd sighed, trying to maintain his “stoic soldier mystique”, but a wry smile betrayed him. “I could blow him up as much as I wanted to, and he couldn’t do a thing about it.” Tinker frowned, but his grin returned, and he turned his attention to the corner of the room, and said, “Yo, Aguilar! What do you think? Who’d win in a good scrap, this guy or Star---” But he was interrupted when Byrd smacked his gloved hand over Tinker’s mouth. “Shut up and read the room, idiot!” Byrd hissed under his breath, and he manually turned Tinker’s head towards the corner. They could barely see the small figure slumped against the wall. In fact, you'd only notice it when her long, white tail feathers twitched occasionally, otherwise lay limp in her lap. Indie Aguilar, known today as the Flying Flag Hero: Banner, and the current No. 13 hero of the United States, sat in the corner, looking less like a soldier and war hero, and seemed even more like the broken woman she truly was right now. Her dark brown feathered wings, the ones she usually kept tucked in or held proudly like standards, were completely drooped around her, splayed limply on the floor around her. She hugged her knees to her chest, her white tail feathers, long and graceful like the train of a gown, were wrapped around them like a blanket. Her black talons remained sheathed. Her yellow eyes, the ones that glowed like amber (especially now in the low light), were dim and hollow. Her short white hair was a bit disheveled, and the undercut on the right side of her scalp was marred with three jagged parallel lines; scars she gave herself in her suffocating grief for Cathleen Bate, the "world's strongest woman", the No. 1 of America who set out to defeat Shigaraki only to disappear into ashes. Indie was close to her. She used to be a criminal in California, her innocence snatched from her when her Quirk developed and she went into a blind rage that led to her mother's... untimely end. Things just went downhill from there, honestly. But Star pulled her out of the rubble and into the military. They grew close, and Indie inherited her indomitable free spirit later on. But when she didn't come back, Indie felt trapped in her grief, which led to those same scars on her temples. When the President declined her request to go to Japan, she was furious, but when she returned to the Brightman Air Force Base, that anger turned into frustration. She couldn't stand feeling helpless. She cried for a while. She was fragile right now, at least emotionally. But then, she looked up at the screen. There he was, the young blonde hero. Suddenly, the lights turned off, except for the TV. The vermilion glow... it left Indie amazed. She finally looked up, and her eyes were shimmering. And finally, she smiled.
