~ ❧ ❦ INTRODUCTION ❦ ❧ ~ ❧ If you listen closely while you pass the border on the night when the moon is a perfect crescent, then you might hear the sound of cats dancing and partying. A revel of sorts, full of what sounds like joy and laughter. It would seem enticing. You might even wish to join in. You might spend the night caught between wakefulness and a daze, lost in the magic of it all. Perhaps you might wake up the next morning all alone, with a suspicious urge to return the next moon. But the whole thing was probably just a dream… ❧ Welcome one and all to The Faerie Court… ~ ❧ ❦ TABLE OF CONTENTS ❦ ❧ ~ ❧ Summary ❧ Roles ❧ Names and Masks ❧ Revels ❧ Link hub ~ ❧ ❦ SUMMARY ❦ ❧ ~ The Faerie Court is a fun and casual generations group. It’s run by Lichenkit (who will no longer be a kit when it opens) and is a group that will meet each moon for partying, socializing, scheming, tricks, dancing, and mischief. The rules are few, as long as it amuses the Trickster Lord, and chaos is encouraged. ~ ❧ ❦ ROLES ❦ ❧ ~ ❧ The Trickster Lord This spot will be filled by Lichenkit once fae is older. It is the role of the master of the revels, and the final word on all matters. They will not tolerate faer leadership being challenged, is quite stubborn, and can be cruel, yet all things they do is for her own entertainment, and won’t do anything without a reason, even if it isn’t immediately obvious. ❧ The Inner Court Lichenkit will be eventually becoming a loner. The Inner Court will be those who choose to live near her, or with faer in the actual court. These will be her closest advisors and allies. To become this rank they would have to earn their trust. ❧ The Named These are those who have been coming to the revels and have been a part of the court for a while, as well as have had their acceptance by The Lord, in which they earn their masks and names (which is talked about more later). ❧ The Unmasked These are those who have been coming to revels for a while, but haven’t yet been seen as valuable enough yet for them to be accepted by The Lord, and do not yet have their masks or names. ❧ The Guests The newcomers, who are seen as inconsequential or mildly amusing by The Trickster Lord. They will have to work to move further up. ~ ❧ ❦ NAMES AND MASKS ❦ ❧ ~ ❧ The names and the masks are central parts of the Faerie Court. They are both given to members who have been accepted by the Trickster Lord. The primary purpose of them is the idea that anonymity is a privilege, and to be known is to be exposed. The Lord would give both of these to someone at the same time, after fae considers them worthy. Or at least interesting enough. ❧ Names The names are a false name that all the higher ranked members of the court use. It is the name you will be given if you ask someone their name while at a revel. Lichen will IRP be the one who chooses, but OORP you are free to request one. They will choose the name based on appearance, personality, or occasionally just whim. ❧ Masks When you receive a name, you will also be given some sort of unofficial accessory mask, to wear to the Court meetings and the revels. Once again, it will be given by Lichen, but OORP you are welcome to choose, if you wish. It just must cover enough of the face to conceal the identity behind it. ❧ As a side note, it is common for The Trickster Lord to hold a ceremony for you to receive your name and mask, because why miss the opportunity to hold a celebration? As a form of thanks the cats may bring some sort of offering to The Lord, which may influence their name and/or mask. (Obviously no pressure for that, it’s just for extra lore if you want). ~ ❧ ❦ REVELS ❦ ❧ ~ ❧ The revels are events that happen each moon (or I may change it to each season) which are essentially a large party. It can be chaotic, dangerous, and truly wild, but the entire purpose is to not be bored. It is a paradise for the danger seeker and the cheerful heart alike. ❧ The things that happen at the event vary, but every time a few things happen. There is a feast of prey, there is much dancing and partying, there is often someone who will receive their mask and name, and there is always a puzzle. ❧ The puzzles aren’t required to participate in, but I personally adore a riddle, code, or something similar. So with each revel that happens, for those interested, I will OORP share a puzzle for you to solve. The prizes will be different, but normally they will be art.
