✦ ┆ Barrels with Fox ! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ★ For my second time coming out here to ride him, I've decided that I was going to be doing some barrels! I found the barrels when I was walking to his stall, and I was so excited to try him out on them! ★ I grabbed him from his stall and put him in the wash stall, then while he sat there I went to go put the barrels in the arena. I did it now, just cause I don't like going to a arena with a horse and THEN setting up. After that, I gave him a quick brush down then tacked him up. We got out to the arena, and did a warm up before jumping into our ride ★ A habit I had learned when barrel racing horses when I was younger was to turn them away from the barrels, and when it was time to go, you wheel around and go. I did that, and Fox BURST into action, eager for the barrels. He was so good, I hardly had to apply pressure to get him to turn the barrels. Coming down from our last barrel, he let out a surge of energy, and I was impressed ! We did the pattern a couple more times after that, just playing around with it before it was time to put him back ★ Instead of using the wash stall, I brought him to his stall, and did his untacking there. While I love using the wash stall, sometimes I feel like the horse would like to be untacked by their stall, knowing that they were about to go into it. I slipped off all his stuff, and put him away. He was SUCH a star today, and I'm so very proud of him!
