SPACE!!!!! The Exercitus makes up the land based and expeditionary troops of the Republic. Led by the Commandment, the Republican Exercitus is one of the finest militaries in the post-apoc world. Spearheaded by the Republic's Predescessor, the Corporate State's, economic stability and the vast amount of resources, this has allowed tons of research and funding into the military, while most went to the Navy, there was still enough to allow the Exercitus better-quality equipment. Each legion numbers around 5,500 men. The Doctrine of the Exercitus revolves a legionary system, modeled after the Roman Army. Most troops are pedes, or legionnaires. Legionnaires are required to be citizens, and act as heavy infantry. Alongside these, there were the Aquilifer, the most honored ceremonial rank, who always held the Aqulia. Siginfiers, who was a standard-bearer and paymaster for the century (company). Finally there was the imagnifer, a newly added rank, who holds the President's image. Immunes are engineers/surgeons, clerks, and other roles, immune to regular heavy duty. Rankwise, there were the Decanus, the Tesserarius, who was responsible for security details. And the Optio, who is the second in command to a centurion. For centurion (low grade officer ranks), there were the Hastati, Priniciples, Triarii Centuries, who were the lowest officers. Then the Prius Pior, a senior centurion. The Primi Ordines who were also senior centurions, commanding the centuries of the First Cohort. Finally, the highest, was the Primus Pilus, the highest and most honored centurion, who led the First Cohort. The Five stripe tribunes, are five staff officers who handle administrative and tactical duties. The Camp Prefect, was the third in command of a legion. The Tribune Laticlavius was the second in command, usually an exceptional young man from the officer schools, or a regular soldier who's competence allowed him to reach the rank. The highest ranking officer, and supreme commander of a legion, was the Legatus Legionis. They are appointed by the President or Congress to lead a legion, and are almost entirely senior commanders with tons of experience. Going further into the Anarctican Legion, legionnaires are incredibly dicilspined and competent to make up for the small population. The punishment system is based on a legalist system. Legionnaires, in their several weak training, train in armor and with weapons much heavier than in real life. Moving away from the Land-based Legion, the Legionary Airforce, is the air based arm of the Legion.
