Hi! Recently, the scratch bad word filter has gotten very strict, and the gens admin team are unsure if it will be fixed anytime soon. Therefore, it had been decided that if a storage owner chooses so, they can move their storage to forums under the collaboration category: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/10/ . This is because the bad word detector seems to be a lot less strong (or a lot smarter) on forums, and makes mistakes a lot less often. But, moving things like this to forums comes with a few changes, namingly to username links. Quick explanation: for some reason forums do not link usernames by simply putting an @ symbol in front of the persons username, and requires a url link. Username links are required to make it a lot easier to send notifications to people, so this is required, even though its a bit confusing :( Ok, here is a tutorial to linking usernames in forums (based on the screenshots i included): 1. When you create or edit a forum, you will be greeted with this page! 2. There is a little chain looking symbol between the image and the text size buttons. You need to click that to add a url. 3. After clicking it, there will be a popup at the top of your screen that allows you to paste the chosen url (to someones page in this case). 4. example of a pasted url 5. After clicking OK, it will insert a line of code (fun!) that tells you to type "Your text to link here...". This is where you will put the username of the person the url links to. (ex. i put in petra's url, so i would type "Generations-" in that section) It does not matter if the username is incorrectly typed in, as the url will always make it link to the persons profile! 6. example of typed in username 7. and this is what it will look like when saved! But this is quite a lot to do every time you're adding a cat. So, if you prefer to not have to insert the url every time, you can change the "username" section of your litter/character registering form to this: username UMM thats about it for the username part, so here are a few extra notices related to moving storages to fourms (in n&c)
- Please please please please keep a backup copy of storage within a note inside a separate project or offsite (docs, word, etc.) that is updated whenever you update storage!!! Forums are sadly more prone to getting taken down my reporters, and i would hate for entire storages to be lost because of this. If you are unable to keep a record of storage offsite id encourage you to keep storage contained in a project. - If the filter does go off, you can copy whatever section is giving you trouble into a reply within your forum post as a jail for flagged sections. - Youll need to have a separate project if you decide to move to forums. The separate project would be for reports + a link to the forum - You cant delete replies on forums. The only way to delete replies it to report it and let ST know to delete it when it asks you why you're reporting it. This does not do anything to the other persons account. - Please only use the collaboration section. Otherwise, your post may get reported and deleted.
