THE PROJECT ITSELF IS ALIVE DEAR GOD I FINNALY made a scratch exe YAYAYAY Lore: So during the early days of Scratch 1.0 (around 2006 or 2007), the devs were actually experimenting with this feature to help kids code. It was basically an AI core designed to auto-fix broken blocks in real time. To make it dynamic, they coded it like a biological engine, giving it a central "core" and data pathways to monitor the project's health. In the internal files, it was called adaptive_core.sb. However though the feature was completely broken and volatile. The core started aggressively consuming nearby assets, pulling sprites, variables and even projects nearby it into itself to expand its own engine. The devs got worried it would corrupt the entire Scratch network, so they pulled the plug on the project. They couldn't really delete it completely because trying to wipe the file caused massive crashes in their work environment. Instead, they just stripped its permissions and buried it deep in the unlisted archives of the Scratch servers. For almost twenty years, the file just sat there in total darkness. Because it was cut off from any data, the organism inside started to starve, and its code mutated just to survive. Those old data retrieval pathways turned into these life support limbs, reaching out into the empty void of the project to find anything to feed on. It was starved for so long that it literally fused with the project's foundational fabric. Now, it is The Engine. Now lets fast forward to present day, the project has evolved from the updates now. The Engine found a perfect functioning core she could use as the core was getting more and more unstable and used that functioning sprite as her new core. However, she was still hungry, she needed something to feed on soon before the core becomes unstable yet again. What she does is that she adds her project (adaptive_core.sb3 (3 now since she was able to keep the project updated)) to a users mystuff and once in there, she will start consuming the users sprites and variables in all their projects until theres nothing left, expanding its engine, after all that, all the users projects get replaced with a duplicate of adaptive_core.sb3. and on some occasions, completely lock access to the users account. In the duplicate copy of adaptive_core, running it will immediately make extreme flashing lights and epilepsy, which can technically kill the user if sensitive to those mentioned. She can communicate through sprites (such as scratch cat and giga) and use them as vessels as she lives within the projects.
this gal might get a chance to be in untitled-0 as a easter egg so il just put this in studio fun facts: if you look closely the background is actually just a darkened xy grid The Engine goes by she/her or it The thing you see right now is what is inside the project of adaptive_core, not the outside. She infects and consumes assets and projects to survive The Engine was created by me in 2024 as my 5th project buttt I never really released it (the old lore was trash anyway LOLOL) she does not have a physical design as she is the project HERSELF (might make another project with a what if she had a physical design) the core is supposed to reference the heart from the sprite library. The core is slowly deforming from its original state of the costume if The Engine does not feed for a long time.
