Bison latifrons ("Broad headed wild ox/stinking animal") is a large species of bison and likely the largest bovid to ever live. It's unique for it's gigantic horns, which is certainly its most attractive trait. B. latifrons stood at about 6-8 feet tall at the hump. Its overall ecology was different from the living bison, being less specific in its diet. It likely ranged from grasses to berries to even saplings, unlike the living bison which only eats grasses. It also probably preferred more environments than just plains, such as mosaics scattered with trees and shrubbery. Bison priscus likely evolved about 195,000 years ago, where it would evolve into every American species of bison, including B. latifrons. Some workers suggest B. latifrons evolved into B. antiquus, which likely evolved into the later American Bison. They probably popped up about 125,000 years ago, only 5,000 years before this story takes place. Our female Arctodus had made it to the bison herd's next stop, a small stream, after a day or so of walking. She's tired, hungry and thirsty. Finding some leftover berries, our Arctodus peeks above a bush to observe. Two bulls have started to clash with each other, fighting for dominance of the herd, then trotting in small circles, before clashing yet again. While practically nobody is looking, a female bison is ambushed by our Arctodus, dying from the shock and from the bite to the back of the neck. all sounds are sourced from https://www.nps.gov/subjects/sound/index.htm consists of crickets, grasshoppers, bison, ospreys, bald eagles, and robins parallax code by @ReinGear
