This is a hypothetical dystopia caused via hyperinflation, and dependance on ai.
The end of the world was not exciting. The end of the world was boring. The people got poorer, and poorer. Everything got more and more expensive. Until nobody could afford anything anymore. Homeless shelters became overrun, and companies raised the prices even more for the few, few people who could afford them. Every good, became a luxury good. All the buildings were filled with ai generated posters of food, as the companies dared not spend a single penny on an artist, and the people got hungrier, and hungrier. The rich people were secluded and hard to find, and all the metal and wood that could've been fastened into weapons, was used for more products for the few who could buy them. The people starved. The grounds had been ruined by concrete foundations. Green was a rare color to see. But still, those few, few, few, few, were not yet satisfied. They decided to go further, they all meet together, in a big room, and decided to live on the oceans. And thus, all the ruined lands were abandoned. Not a crop could grow, not an animal could survive. The people starved. And those few survivors lived on their ships, living in the lap of luxury with their automated ships catering to all their needs. Until, ofcourse. A solar flare disabled the systems for a week. Most of those few couldn't survive for much longer on their lonesome. It's said that the last man alive, was a very wealthy 62 year old man who died from a heart attack whilst on the toilet.
