Instructions

Running through the fields of green, the three therian friends were racing past to see who could make it to the old redwood tree first. "Just try to keep up!" Ruby said, in first place, but not for long. Moss zoomed past Ruby, but she wasn't running, she was doing quads! "Hey, that's cheating!!" Ruby called out. "Sorry, I couldn't resist!" Moss said sarcastically. "And besides, we never really established any rules!" Suddenly, Bryyn dashed past the two, Getting closer to the Redwood tree. "Well, looks like the only rule is, first one to the redwood tree wins!" It was a very close race. Ruby ran fast, Bryyn ran faster, but in the end, Moss was the fastest! "And the Blue-Jay Blur wins again!!" Bryyn chuckled. "No one calls you that, Moss.." "Ehh, It's a work in progress." The three laughed and lay in the grass to catch their breath. "I'm so glad I found you guys. You've made my first year in Redwood feel really special.." Ruby smiled at the two. "No prob! We love helping those who feel lost and/or scared." Just then, Ruby wondered. "Say, how did you guys find out you were therians?" Moss recalled the time she first saw the signs. "Well, I like bird watching, and I remember one time where I saw a blue jay, and my mind, like, snapped! Shortly after that experience, I started getting phantom shifts, mental shifts, y'know it." Bryyn never forgot when she had awoken as a grizzly bear therian, it was such a special memory to her. "My family and I were out camping and I remember we were all in our tents and a grizzly bear came through the site!" Moss and Ruby both shared the same surprised expression. "My parents thought we were gonna die, but I looked at the creature in awe, and then, like Moss, my mind snapped!" Ruby thought she had a lame backstory compared to their friends, but then again, they had just awoken not too long ago. "You guys have some awesome stories, too bad I don't really have adventures like that." "Well, now we can make some new ones!" Moss chuckled, and the three lay in the grass, watching the clouds roll by. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "So, what are you guys doing tomorrow?" Ruby pondered. Suddenly, Moss remembered. "Aw, dang it! Tomorrow's the first day of school.." Suddenly, Rubys stomach dropped. "Oh.. yay.." They tried not to explode while hearing the news. "Hey, don't worry, the first day's always tough, but, I know you got this." Hearing Bryyns pep talk made Ruby feel way better about tomorrow. "Thanks for that. That really helped." "No prob. That's what friends are for." "Unfortunately, because of that information, I got to head home.." Moss waved goodbye and headed home, her tail key chain swaying in the wind. "I too, gotta prepare for tomorrow." Brynn fist-bumped Ruby and ran toward her home as well. "Guess, I'll head home as well.." Ruby walked to their house, really wishing they'd brought their old skateboard from the other house.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- They entered the house, put their gear away, and talked to mom about the big day tomorrow. "So, what time do I have to get ready?" Ruby's mom read the email she got from the school. "It says here, school starts at 8:30, so I'd say, around 8:20." Ruby was surprised that their school was closer than they thought. "Please don't make me walk all that way, It's hard enough walking to the park and Moss's house.." Suddenly, Ruby's mom remembered something. "Oh, that reminds me! Look what I found while I was going through one of the moving boxes!" Ruby's mom pulled out something Ruby hadn't seen since their old house. "My old skateboard!!" Ruby was beaming with joy. "I thought we lost this thing in the moving truck..?" "Well, I managed to find it and must've put it in one of the moving boxes!" Ruby smiled. "This'll make transportation way easier. Thanks mom!" Ruby hugged their mom and headed upstairs. Just then, Ruby's mom found the answer to the question she had been asking herself. "Yep.. I am a good mother."
