' ' Clan life. Starclan, The Dark Forest. It's all losing it's meaning now. It's time to show everyone who's the Last One Standing. ' ' It started out as a normal day. Travelingpaw hunted, battle trained, talked with kits and more. It was almost enough to make her actually move on, as her mentor had mentioned, death was a thing that happened all the time! Vel didn't know what she'd see after that. She had walked back into camp, a mouse in her jaws from a hunt. But the dreadfully familiar stench of death and blood assaulted her senses. Dread settled into her stomach. Who died now? Who had their untimely, terrible demise? Travelingpaw wasn't prepared to see who. ' ' It's time to show the clans how much of a 'terrible cat' I can be. ' ' Orange and black fur was the first thing she saw. Normal, yes? What a terrible demise. But as soon as she fully saw who it was, her heart dropped completely. "Cutwormpaw?" Her own voice echoed in her ears as her vision tunneled onto her sister's body. "Cutworm, it's not funny anymore, death isn't something to joke about, you know this!" Her voice rose with each word, and she lay by her sister's side, gently nudging the body side-to-side, as if shaking trying to shake Cutwormpaw awake. But she wasn't going to wake up. Travelingpaw knew this, she just didn't want to believe it. Her own sister, dead. She didn't know what to think. Cats around her were murmuring. 'Poor cat, she was only an apprentice! She should have had so much time to live to help the clan!' Anger bubbled up to the surface. How dare they. How dare they! She had lost her sister, lost Cutwormpaw, and they're talking about how Wormy could have served the clan?! She ignored them, or tried to, at least, tears stinging her eyes as she clung onto Cutworm's body. "Why did you leave me too...?" She sobbed. "Why did you leave me too..?" ' ' I /will/ be feared. ' '
