In 2008, HCE released their first major touchscreen smartphone, becoming part of the new H series. Interestingly, they adopted a new naming choice with the new series, becoming the HePhone instead of the typical HCE. Because of new hardware, HCE decided to rebuild their OS instead of modifying the previous HCE Phone OS. The new OS was named “HeOS Mobile” (originating from their desktop HeOS), and it was much more optimized for touchscreens. The phone had no front camera, but there was a back camera. The phone featured 3 front buttons: Back (◁), Home (⌂) and Tabs (◱). It also had power and volume on the side.
