Cally awakens, tail flicking and head raising, she then pads out the den, looking forward to seeing her ma. She fails to find her, so she searches the edges of camp, paws pounding on the ground as she runs around. Her eyes drift to the clearing. Her heart drops. Why was mum in the clearing? Why was Amy upset? She moves over, eyes widening and tears blooming at the corners of her eyes, although one is covered by fur. Her claws dig into the dirt, before thrusting her head into her mums side, tears pouring and falling into the soil below, sitting there for hours, until a chill ran down her back. She stands up, shaking, and padding to her nest, laying down, and trying to rest. She couldn't seem to get one thing off her mind. A world without her ma. She stares at her paws, mind drifting as her claws dig into the moss, tears dripping down onto it, breathing heavily. Her vision bluuries. Why? That was the only thing on her mind. And she can't seem to forget it. No matter how hard she tries, panic, fear of the unknown crash into her all at once. Who would take care of her now? Who would she snuggle up to at night? She forces her head down, trying to calm down. Her eyes flutter shut. She lays there until the birds chirp and the sun rises once more. The world keeps on spinning without spindriftspray. But Cally can't come to accept that.
