This is. Not really a big deal however! I had a substitute in English class today and we’re reading a novel where the main character is autistic. It’s a very good novel. However the sub was talking about neurodivergence and she was talking about it as though autism was the only thing to fall under neurodivergence. “Neurodivergent people struggle with sensory overload.” “A neurodivergent person does x y z” And YES, autism is neurodivergence 100% But It’s not the only thing. I’m neurodivergent and I’m not autistic. I have social and generalized anxiety. People with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and countless others are also considered neurodivergent. Idk this just really touched a nerve somehow and I wanted to vent it…I’ll likely take this project down later. But really…it just felt off to me that she was saying all that stuff.
