You can play by yourself, or with other people. The first person clicks an apple. If it's an actual apple, nothing would happen. If it's a bomb, it will blow up. Continue the game until someone blows the bomb up. The bombs are random. It's unlikely, but there might not be any bombs. If that happens, just press space.
