Their village was attacked and they were split apart, as they both had to flee their den. The attackers raised their kits as their own, and trained them to fight, as the kits did not remember their true parents. The female cat was not found, and the village assumed she was captured, just as the male cat was. But the opposite was true. The female cat was was free, but not on Earth. She was about to be captured when she died, of exhaustion and the claws and teeth of the attackers in her back. The male cat, in his closed and covered den, always slept in a corner out of habit, making room for the female cat and their kits that he would never see again. One night, he sat in his mate's spot and he cried for her. His beloved mate reached for him, and he reached for her, and as she was being welcomed back into the human world, he was being welcomed to the stars. He was frustrated, and she was saddened. So he stopped reaching for her and she let go of him. With the strength of his love in the stars, he broke free of the den that he started his family in, but that had been turned to his prison. He sat for the rest of his life in the mountains, awaiting his true love once again.
