From the diary of Sir Roulant The Foolish: A foreboding feeling fills the air as I descend down the winding passage. The innkeeper had warned me of a strange curse upon this place. Perhaps it was ill-advised, but my honor and duty to the king made it impossible not to enter. As I step into the dungeon foyer, I am witness to a ghastly sight. What remains of a former adventurer lies before the door, blocking my path. I shiver involuntarily and clutch my weapon as I step gingerly around it. With a start, Its bones rustle, clinking eerily, and the unholy creature rises to face me. Clutching its tarnished blade with gnarled finger, Its eyes gleam with hatred and it raises its sword. I manage to get in a blow, sending it back into oblivion, but not before Its blade pierces my chest. As the life fades from my body, I know my time on this mortal plane is scarce. I grab my worn leather-bound diary and scrawl the last, pitiful minutes of my life onto its pages. A thought flickers through my weakened mind. What was it that made me enter this cursed place? My foolish dreams of glory and riches, of fame and fortune had led me here. And thus my story ends, a tale of woe and folly, one that will be remembered by few. To those who may find this book, let this be a warning: you were not the first to enter this dungeon. You will not be the last.
