The setting of this game takes place In ancient civilization (no specific dates yet) where the Roman Empire reigns supreme and the Wars with the Barbarians are still ongoing. You have been chosen to lead a Roman Legion into battle against the biggest (fictitious) threat to the Roman Empire: Lord Totenkopf.
