SUBJECT: English - Vocabulary - Sight Words GRADE: 1 PURPOSE: Practice identifying the word "and" SKILLS REQUIRED: ability to identify letters of the alphabet, especially "a" "d" and "n" __________________________________________ DESCRIPTION: The lesson starts with a visual representation of the word "and" followed by the written word and the word spelled, with narration. There is a demonstration showing the pointer moving and clicking on a fish with "and." With this demonstration, the student does not need to be able to read the English instructions to play the game. When the student clicks on a fish with the word "and," it says Correct (in Sesotho) and the fish turns to a solid color. The student must find and click on all 7 of the fish with the word "and" (in addition to the one clicked in the demonstration). If the student clicks on an incorrect word, it will say Incorrect (in Sesotho), the fish is X-ed out, then the word on it disappears. When the student finds all 7 of the correct fish, it will hide the other fish and display the words "Very Good."
